Safety & Instructions

Florida State Law and Safety Equipment

According to Florida law, paddle board users are required to have a USCG-approved life jacket for each person and a sound-producing device on board(whistle), unless the paddle board is being used within a “swimming, surfing, or bathing area.” While persons on the paddle board are not required to wear the life jacket while on Florida waters (unless they are less than 6 years of age), it is advisable to find a comfortable life jacket that you can wear or easily carry while on the water.

Best practices for paddle boarding include staying aware of your surroundings, avoiding crowded areas, wearing protective clothing and sunscreen, keeping a safe distance from other watercraft, and knowing your limits and abilities. It is also recommended to paddle with a buddy and to inform someone of your intended paddle route and estimated time of return.
