Driving Rules, Safety & Rental Requirements

Who Can Drive Our Golf Carts

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, the following golf cart driving rules along Emerald Coast must be met to drive our LSVs (Low-Speed Vehicles):

  • Age Requirement: Drivers must be 21 years or older.
  • Driver’s License & Insurance: A valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance are required to rent and operate our street-legal golf carts.

Where You Can (and Can’t) Drive Our LSVs

Our LSVs are designed for safe travel on designated public roads. Here’s where you can and cannot drive:

Permitted Areas:

  • Public roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less.

Restricted Areas:

  • Highway 98 (Emerald Coast Parkway) — not allowed.
  • Sidewalks, grass, bike paths, curbs, or beaches.
  • Off-road areas or trails.

Always yield to pedestrians, follow local signage, and drive cautiously in high-traffic areas for safety.

Operating the Cart Safely

Safety is our priority. Follow these simple guidelines to ensure a smooth and secure ride:

  • Stop Completely before switching directions (Forward/Reverse).
  • Slow Down before turning and be extra cautious on uneven or wet surfaces.
  • Use headlights at night to enhance visibility.
  • Check behind you before reversing to ensure the area is clear.

Parking Your Golf Cart

To ensure proper parking and avoid fines, follow these parking guidelines:

  • Park only in designated vehicle parking areas.
  • Any citations or tickets issued during your rental period will be charged to the renter.
  • When not in use, keep the cart plugged in to ensure it is fully charged for your next ride.

Not All Communities Allow Golf Carts — Check Before You Book

To enjoy a smooth, stress-free golf cart rental experience along the Emerald Coast, it’s important to understand where golf carts are permitted — and where they’re not. Certain communities in the Destin, Miramar Beach, and 30A areas have specific rules that may restrict the use of street-legal golf carts.

Before finalizing your reservation, we strongly recommend checking with your property manager to confirm that golf carts are allowed at your vacation rental. This quick step ensures your rental is approved for your destination — giving you peace of mind and avoiding any last-minute surprises.

  • No refunds will be issued if a community restriction prevents you from using your rental.
  • Golf cart rentals are currently not permitted in the following neighborhoods:
    • Rosemary Beach
    • Alys Beach
    • Prominence
    • Watersound
    • Seaside
    • WaterColor
    • Sandestin

This list is not exhaustive. If you’re unsure, please confirm with your property manager before booking your golf cart rental to ensure compliance with local HOA and neighborhood policies.
